Three days before Green Bay, Mike McCarthy's Monday availability was mostly a medical briefing. Here is the full ledger, sourced to the people who were at practice, because the roster questions this camp keeps asking are now being answered by the training staff. The real injury report is the dress list Thursday night.
Iheanachor: no timeline, and a small tell in pads
The headline concern is the first-round pick. Max Iheanachor winced rotating his arms during Thursday's practice, left early with trainers, and has not taken a team rep since. McCarthy ruled him out again Monday and declined to give a timeline, an omission notable enough that ProFootballTalk picked it up nationally and PennLive called the injury outright mysterious. The observed details point at the neck or shoulder area, which is exactly the region where teams say nothing until they know everything.
The hopeful note: Steelers Depot's practice report had him in pads Monday taking individual-drill reps despite the pregame ruling. Players a week from serious news do not usually suit up for bag work.
Accountability corner: six days ago we put numbers on the rookie starting games this year and named preseason snap deployment as the tell to watch Thursday. That tell is dead on arrival, and the irony is not lost on us. We wrote that the question "will the rookie tackle start" usually gets answered by the injury math. We did not expect the math to come for the rookie first. Broderick Jones is absorbing the vacated tackle snaps in the meantime, which inverts the whole depth conversation we mapped.
Pittman: a right leg, and an opener in doubt
Michael Pittman Jr. got, in McCarthy's phrasing, "banged up in Saturday night lights." Steelers Now reports it is a right leg injury that ended his Saturday and kept him out of uniform Monday, with his availability for Thursday uncertain. Rookie Germie Bernard takes the vacated reps. One week after Pittman told the world he chose Pittsburgh, the receiver room is finding out what it looks like without him, and it should be noted that DK Metcalf also sat Monday with no explanation offered. Two absent starting receivers in the same session is either coincidence, load management, or a problem, and Thursday sorts out which.
The secondary: one back, three still parked
An honest update to Saturday's Rumor Mill lead, which argued the back end is worse off than the injury report admits. The skeptics get one box: Jaquan Brisker returned Monday, limited to individual drills. The pattern keeps the rest. Porter, Ramsey, and Kent have not moved off PUP, Brandin Echols is still out with the ankle (though out of the walking boot, a good sign), and the team is now cross-training rookie corner Daylen Everette in the slot for the first time all camp, precisely because Ramsey and Echols are the slot options. Teams do not teach a boundary corner a new position in August for fun.
The rest of the ledger
Sebastian Joseph-Day missed a third straight practice, which keeps the Rubio scenario warm. Logan Lee remains out. On the good side: Steven Jones returned after five days, Eli Heidenreich is back, and Darnell Washington was looked at by trainers Monday but never left the field. The transaction wire did its own triage: Lorenzo Thompson went to waived/injured, and Colton Dowell, whose signing we noted in the Mill as a camp-body move, was waived four days later to make room for receivers Cornell Powell and Isaiah Winstead. Camp bodies move fast when the starters start limping.
Thursday at Acrisure answers most of this. Whoever jogs out in uniform against the Packers is the injury report that counts, and we will read it closely.
